Chatting is free; running real work uses hours. Here’s the difference so there are no surprises.
Where to find it: The Ask Darwin sidebar. Part of the Ask Darwin guide.

Free vs hours — reads and drafts are free; only sending, publishing, or spending uses hours.
Free vs. what uses hours
Action Hours are a monthly balance of hours. The rule is simple:
- Free: chat and reads. Ask, read, and review as much as you like.
- Uses hours: actions that send or publish.
If you run low, use Top up to add more. The sidebar also has a “Get Ask Darwin on your phone” QR code, plus Documents, Export, and New conversation buttons. You can search past conversations too.
Because chatting is free, you can explore and plan as much as you want. Hours only tick when work actually goes out the door.
